Dr Habil. Yan Kapranov is Professor at the School of Humanities and Fine Arts, VIZJA University in Warsaw, Poland. His academic work connects historical and comparative linguistics with corpus-based research, translation studies, multilingualism, European studies and the changing relationship between language and artificial intelligence.
He combines research and teaching with the leadership of international educational projects, academic journals and interdisciplinary scholarly initiatives. His work has developed across Ukraine, Finland and Poland and is grounded in cross-border academic cooperation.

Academic trajectory
Kapranov holds the degree of Doctor of Sciences in Philology, specialising in historical linguistics, and received the academic title of Full Professor in 2023. His habilitation was formally recognised by the University of Warsaw in 2025. Earlier qualifications include a PhD in Philology and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in English and Italian language studies, teaching, interpreting and translation.
