From Grant to Academic Ecosystem: The Culture of International Partnership
A practical framework for moving beyond short-term grant administration and building durable academic relationships, shared methods, reusable educational formats and institutional memory.
Documented contribution: Yan Kapranov appears in the official Programme Committee, delivered the presentation during the 14 May plenary session, later moderated the English for Academic Purposes section, and authored the corresponding paper in the official conference proceedings.
Three-part transformation

What turns a project consortium into an academic ecosystem
- Strategic alignmentConnect the grant to the institution’s long-term research, educational and social mission.
- ReciprocityRequire every partner to contribute value rather than treating participation as one-way access to resources.
- TransparencyDefine roles, expectations, authorship, resources and decision-making before ambiguity damages trust.
- ContinuityLeave practices, networks and products that remain active after the formal project calendar ends.
- Academic integrityDo not allow international visibility to excuse superficial methods, formality or weak knowledge-quality controls.
- Ecosystem integrationConnect project outputs to the wider educational and research environment instead of isolating them inside a consortium.
Central takeaway: funding can provide an impulse, resources and a framework; an ecosystem is created by people, institutional memory, trust, shared values, repeatable practices and responsibility for the quality of knowledge.
Evidence boundary: the official programme places the talk inside the 11:00–14:00 plenary session on 14 May and names Yan Kapranov in the Programme Committee and as moderator of Section 5. It does not use the title “keynote speaker”, so this page uses “plenary presentation”. The host’s figure of more than 300 refers to applications, not verified attendance. The proceedings establish publication of the paper, but no peer-review claim is made.
The eleven-image archive gallery remains private. Group screenshots expose participant faces and names; slide captures reproduce third-party branding or source material; and the promotional graphic uses the uncorroborated “keynote speaker” label. Two speaker-only Zoom frames are technically usable after cropping, but add little evidentiary value and are not included in this text-first release.
